After school activities and clubs are an important part of our school life. They provide our children with a more relaxed and social atmosphere where they have opportunities to try out new activities and acquire new skills or further develop existing skills. Pupils are also encouraged to participate in a range of locally organized sporting activities including athletics, football, swimming and gymnastics. We currently have after school clubs for football, netball, athletics, film club and choir. We also run lunch clubs for dance, guitar and literacy.
All classes have a number of educational outings each session, linked to topic work or other curriculum areas. All of these activities help to broaden our pupils’ experiences and enhancing the quality of their learning.
Girls’ Football After School Club by Morven McLellan
The Girls Football Club in Woodhead Primary is held every second Monday for Primary 6 and 7 girls. Mrs Roe trains the girls extremely well and I would like to thank her for that. I really enjoy the football and I am sure all the other girls do too. The Girls Football do different things every session, including passing, shooting and dribbling. We haven’t played yet but we are looking forward to upcoming tournaments and competitions.
